Hi, I'm Shira. I live in Cambridgeshire with my husband, who made this website, and our three cats, who help occasionally by sitting on the keyboard.
I started painting in 2002, because a friend suggested I might enjoy it. Turns out he was right! (Thanks, Jasper!)
I never really plan my paintings; they make themselves up as they go along. I have no concrete idea of what my influences are and it's always interesting to see what people make of my paintings - they often see things that I'd never thought of.
When I'm not painting, I spend a lot of time online, mostly on LiveJournal and various music-related sites. I also love to read - my tastes are very eclectic and I love everything from Clive Barker to Shakespeare; I'm also a shameless fan of the Harry Potter books. My music tastes are equally diverse - I'll listen to anything if it catches me, but I have an especial love for New Model Army, Soundgarden, Tori Amos, Jeff Buckley and most recently Amy Winehouse and Ofra Haza.
